There are many in the online gambling world that could not be happier with President Obama coming into office, mostly because they are sure that he is going to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Whether or not this is actually going to happen remains to be seen, but there are already Representatives and Senators working on trying to make that happen.

The �midnight rule� is one of those things that is currently on the table. The idea is that the previous administration realizes that it is going out so they start putting through all kinds of legislation that the next president would have to live with, and they walk away scott-free. However, there are ways of combating the midnight rule.

One of these rules that was passed in the last minute was the idea that the UIGEA regulations would come into play. Even though members of their own party urged the outgoing administration not to pass the bill because of the problems, it was passed making many very unhappy about it.

However, because it was done so close to the last day of their administration, it can be overturned if a new act is passed. The Midnight Rule Act would enable a new president to overturn any regulatory changes made by an outgoing administration as loing as they were done within the last three months � which the online gambling regulations were. If the act is passed, Obama would be able to overturn the online gambling regulations and then it is just a short hop, skip and jump to overturning the UIGEA as well.
