Legalizing Online Gambling in the Czech Republic

With so many countries now embracing online gambling and working toward regulation of an industry that has long gotten the short end of the stick, it is only natural that we might start seeing it in the Czech Republic as well.

For months now many have been waiting to see if in fact, online gambling would be legalized in the country. For years the online gambling industry has been lobbying to get it legal and promising to make sure that children do not have access to the sites. Well, with all of that supposedly in place, the Finance Ministry has announced that they will soon be handing out permits for online gambling.

They say that it is important for those online gambling companies within the Czech Republic to get licenses because there are outside companies who are already benefiting from it. They are allowed to offer online gambling because they are running without any kind of control and no legal restrictions. That means they are here illegally while those companies that are based in the Czech Republic cannot run online gambling because they are sticking to the law.

Experts say that the local online gambling companies are currently missing out on several hundred million dollars a year to these foreign countries. The problem is that none of these online gambling companies are paying taxes to the country, while they will be. They will be paying in, while the other countries continue to profit without any additional fees. Their hope is to push out the illegal online gambling companies and help those that are legal within the Czech Republic to flourish.
