| GamblingPhD menu | Online Gambling Growth Anybodys Guess January 6, 2009 The problem that many are looking at now is whether or not online gambling is going to continue to grow or not. There was a time that many said not a chance and that with the Bush Administration in office we would not see a return of online gambling any time soon. Then there was Election Day and many said that if Barack Obama was elected that online gambling would be legalized and regulated. This was the call to online gambling growth that everyone called for, but now it doesnt seem as though legalizing it is a priority for anyone in the new administration. There was talk of Joe Biden and his sons ties to online gambling and how that would get it legalized and regulated. Again, we still havent heard anything regarding that one either. Now there is a group of online gambling patrons waiting to see if it will grow and if it will, when it will happen. The online gambling community is feeling somewhat slighted as they felt that they would be a priority because that was the priority for them in this election. However, rightfully so, there are many other things our new president is going to have to worry about before he even starts to look at online gambling. With many states looking at possibly making online gambling legal within their borders, many say that they dont have to wait for the president to make up his mind. They say that they should be able to start online gambling right now. They are looking for regulation and legalization, and feel that they have waited long enough. Many think that regulation within the states will cause a large growth in the online gambling industry. Others say that it wont come until the whole country can access it. Either way, we will have to wait and see. Back to January 09 Archive. |
