Looking Over the Past Year

When various experts from various industries get together to talk about what the big stories of the year are � online gambling invariably comes up. In fact, these experts say that it is undoubtedly one of the most talked about topics, even among those that don�t participate in online gambling.

Spectrum Gaming Group authors a newsletter called the Gaming Industry Observer, and every year they identify the Top 21 Industry Trends for the year. This year they have listed online gambling as one of the top trends for the upcoming year, especially with the political climate changing as it has.

They say that the continued fight for legalization and regulation of the online gambling industry is going to be one of the big factors this year, and they also say that the �continued globalization of the [online gambling industry] is expected to take center stage.� They think that this is the year for online gambling � and that those who participate just aren�t going to take no for an answer this year.

Now that a new Congress is coming in, all of the pro online gambling legislation that was being kicked around last year needs to be reintroduced. Those that were not acted upon last year have expired and although they do not know exactly what they will hold for us this year � it can be expected that they will be very aggressive in their quest for the legalization of online gambling. With Obama taking office on January 20th, the pressure for regulation of online gambling is only going to increase.
