Where is Conan Headed?

The latest online gambling topic of course is what is going to happen to
Conan O’Brien now that he is no longer going to be on the Tonight Show.
The move obviously is shocking to many people, after all Conan just took
the title of host from Jay Leno. But NBC is no dummy – Leno’s show may
have tanked, but he is still worth much more to them than Conan is so
they know that they have to do what it takes to keep him. Now they would
love for Conan to stay as well, but he is not nearly as big a commodity.
Conan is expected to leave the show within the next month or two and
online gambling sites are taking bets on where he is going to go.
Obviously NBC is probably out of the question, after all where would
they put him? He has made it fairly clear that he is not looking to go
back to a later show, and a day time talk show does not seem to be a
good fit for him. This leaves ABC, FOX, and CBS.
Each of these channels are a good bet according to the online gambling
industry, but CBS is probably the weakest. Let’s face it – they don’t
want to alienate Dave Letterman, who is currently holding the top spot
in late night since Leno left. This leaves ABC and FOX – neither of
which has a strong late night following.
The online gambling sites are offering bets as to where Conan will land
– with numbers like:
FOX -185
ABC +200
CBS +300
HBO +400
Somewhere on the Internet +500
Only time will tell where Conan is really going to end up, and it should
be interesting to see what kinds of numbers he gets when he gets where
he’s going.
