Florida Considering
Online Gambling?

When people think of
Florida as a rule they think of retirement communities, and older
Americans looking to settle down and enjoy what life has left to offer.
They don’t think of it as a big party place, or anything of that ilk as
it is mostly a conservative, Republican based state. Obviously Miami is
the exception to the rule, but Florida has really taken on this kind of
quiet and laid back reputation.
But what many people don’t realize is that slowly but surely Florida has
been changing in the way that they do business. First they had their
Seminole Indian Tribe offering bingo for those people interested in
gambling. But from there it grew and the next thing you know you had two
counties offering Vegas style slot machines. Well, this lead to the
state making a deal with the tribe so now in addition to the slot
machines there are now table games as well. But now the state is looking
into another way of bringing in money – and online gambling is on the
table.
They have a huge budget shortfall, and as many states before them they
are looking for ways of fixing that. It just so happens that they are
wondering if an intrastate online gambling option might be the way to do
that. The state’s Senate Regulated Industries Committee has asked for a
report to be delivered to them by January 19th that would show them the
good and bad in legalizing online gambling within the state. With so
many different groups pointing out the amount of money that could be
made from online gambling, it is no wonder that they might turn their
eyes toward it to see what benefits there are to be had.
