Reid’s Problems Could
be Good News for Online Gambling Industry

Pretty much every one knows
by now that Senator Harry Reid is in a whole lot of hot water for
comments that he made during the 2008 presidential race. Referring to
President Barack Obama, he said that he was “light skinned” and that he
had “no Negro dialect.” This is not necessarily something you want to
say about someone who at the time had a real chance at being our next
president, besides the fact that they are obviously racial in nature.
However, Reid apologized to Obama who accepted his apology and said that
“the book is closed” on the matter. He is moving on and expects everyone
else to do the same. However, there are those within the Republican
Party that want to see him resign. They say that the comments are
uncalled for and want him to lose his seat – as he is a Democrat. But so
many of the Democrats came to his defense that it looks like they might
be screaming for no reason at all.
But the online gambling industry is torn. Yes, Reid is a Democrat and
they are traditionally on the side of online gambling which makes things
better for the party as a whole, but Reid has been very much against the
idea of online gambling and has been a real roadblock in their progress
to get it legalized and regulated. There is talk that if Reid was gone
that the online gambling industry might have a better chance at
legalization.
Reid is trying to keep online gambling out as he represents the state of
Nevada and is trying to protect their interests. He knows that the
online gambling industry will do much to hurt the casinos and he has to
protect them at all costs.
