| GamblingPhD menu | Done Deal July 17, 2008 Playtech, the popular online casino software developer, had made a shrewd move in the online gambling industry. The company has signed a deal with Paramount Pictures which will enable them to license two of their most famous films. The four year, exclusive licensing agreement is for Gladiator and The Untouchables and will enable them to distribute a number of branded online casino games based on those movie titles. The terms of the deal have not been fully disclosed yet, but the exclusivity of the offer alone is a money-making deal for the company. The agreement not only gives them the right to distribute them, but it allows them to do so through the use of two different media forms. They will be able to offer them as online casino games through their casino game portfolio. This means that those that currently use Playtech software and those that choose to use it in the future will be able to access these games. Secondly, it will be offered via land based videogame terminals as well as part of their subsidiary, Videobet. This will enable them to offer it to a whole other market that would not normally be covered by the online gambling offerings. They say that they are pleased to have been able to get the deal with the ever popular movie company, and they know that these games are going to be a big hit in the online gambling community. With the addition of the land based terminals as well, people from all walks of life are going to be able to play the games which should be wildly popular. Back to July 08 Archive. |
