Mitch Garber Says Consolidation is Coming

It has been all over the news that Harrah’s is working on their own online gambling site. They have gone ahead and hired ex PartyGaming Chief Mitch Garber to run the operations, and they expect to be able to go live as soon as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, is overturned.
 
Garber is Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment Boss and says that he sees a real future in online gambling. Garber says that he sees a world where online gambling is not only regulated and legal, but is dominated by “a few strong, global operators” according to a recent interview he gave eGaming Review. He says that online gambling will be much like it is now, but more world wide.
 
There will be numerous smaller online gambling companies that will participate as well, but there will be those big names that everyone recognizes – much like land based gambling is now. They are gearing up so that they are one of those dominant forces, and they expect that their reputation will precede them into the online gambling world.
 
By consolidating Caesars, World Series of Poker and of course, the Harrah’s name, they expect to dominate the market in online gambling and in online poker playing. They think that globally they will be a force to be reckoned with. He said that they are not there yet, but they think that the combination of the branding, plus the people that they are bringing on to run it, and add in the latest bill by Rep. Barney Frank – it is only a matter of time before their goal becomes a reality.
