Online Gambling Revenue Problems

July 7, 2009

So many people are wondering today what the government in the great state of California is doing with the money that they pay into their taxes. Because a report just came out that they are cracking down on online gambling, and considering most residents want it to be legal, they feel like it is a real waste of tax payer money. They want their money used for something important and they say that this is not it.

The government announced that they had been busting online gambling cafés that were allowing people to participate in the illegal activity. They did not arrest anyone but they confiscated about 33 machines that were used for online gambling and they took in roughly $13,000.

Residents want to know why money is being spent to hunt down these illegal online gambling areas, and why that money isn’t being used for more essential services. They want to be clear that they understand that online gambling is illegal, but with a $25 billion budget deficit they think that the money could be used for one of the programs that the state says they are going to have to cut that is actually worth something to residents.

They say that the state has plenty of legal gambling and for those that wish to participate in online gambling, they say let them do it. They don’t think that it should be illegal and they certainly don’t want their money spent on “cracking down on it.” Enough is enough they say – put that money towards the firefighters, or the state parks – something that truly needs the money.
