Spain Working on Online Gambling Laws
July 29, 2009
There are those countries that refuse to obey the laws of online gambling no matter how many times they are told to change their stance. Look at the United States – they have sanctions and about a hundred cases against them, but still they refuse to change their ways.
Well Spain is now looking for a way to change their online gambling laws for the better. They have come under fire for the way that their laws have been in the past, and so their officials are working to come up with a plan that would put them back in a desirable light with the European Union and still keep their residents safe while participating in online gambling.
They have said that there should be two groups that will come up with rules and regulations as they pertain to the online gambling industry. They say that their laws as they stand now were necessary at the time that online gambling first started, but they are now willing to change those laws so as to be in compliance with the desires of the EU.
Their process of trying to regulate the online gambling industry was started in late 2007 and they have been working on it ever since. They are now asking the individual regions of their country to help them come up with the framework for the online gambling industry and they think that this will ensure laws that truly fit the community. The only one who may not be on board with the plan at this time is the LAE which is the national lottery operator in Spain. They did not attend the last meeting to discuss online gambling regulations.
