Online Gambling Bookmakers in Trouble

June 14, 2008

Some online gambling bookies are trying to figure out what is the better fit for them jail or exile. Truly, that is their dilemma. Wanted for running online gambling, they are in trouble with the US government. They can either stay in places like Antigua for the rest of their lives or they can go back and go to jail.

Americans Steve Schillinger and Hayden Ware are both staying in Antigua rather than go back to the US and go to jail. Their former partner, Jay Cohen, is currently in the US facing jail time instead. He is still working on persuading the US appeals court to spare him jail, but so far no luck.

Schillinger says that he wouldnt go back for anything. He says that going back would simply put him in jail instead of a tropical paradise. However, Cohen says that he thinks that justice will prevail and he wont go to jail. He thinks that he is on the right side of the law, and that online gambling should be legal anyway.

However, he says that if he loses he would rather be in jail for 21 months than never be able to come back to his native country for the rest of his life. If Cohen is successful in his appeals, the others may want to come back and fight for their rights as well, but for now, they are truly living in paradise and thats not too shabby.
