| GamblingPhD menu | Warren Cloud Passes June 30, 2008 Warren Cloud, one of the very first online casino operators, has died while on vacation in Spain. Cloud, also known as Oliver Curran, had a heart attack on his boat near the island of Ibiza and was confirmed dead Saturday evening. His wife and child survive him. The online casino community was stunned by the news, as Cloud is known as one of the founding fathers of the industry. Hailing from South Africa, he had both online gambling and real time gaming casino businesses and he was worth more than 140,000,000. He had properties with names like America Online, or Crystal Palace. Even the Lucky Coin online casino was one of his. But this is not to say that life with Cloud was always rosy. Cloud had a reputation that was not always on the up and up. He was accused of withholding bonuses and locking his customers accounts so was not always regarded in the best of lights. However, he still had an amazing and successful career. His online casino group once even appeared on the CasinoMeister.com rogue list but was eventually removed. Brian Bailey, who runs the online casino, said that it was removed after talking in length with Cloud. Back to June 2008 Archive. |
