The Link between Online Gambling and Prostitution

The online gambling info site Gambling911.com has released the latest findings from a study they conducted. The site found that one in five online gambling operators have married either a former or current prostitute. These findings were shocking to us, not only because we couldn’t believe that someone would actually do a survey on this, but because who knew that there was even a link?

However, according to them because of places like Costa Rica where online gambling is so prevalent and prostitution is legal, it only makes sense that the two would eventually be intertwined. Allegedly at the center of Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose, there is a place called the Hotel Del Rey where prostitutes and online gamblers meet up and sometimes, yes, they get married.

The site claims that their survey is not “scientific” but there is something to be said about the numbers. One in five is a lot. One online gambler told the site that his wife was a former hooker and that they had different views on things than those in the US did. He said that they were professional and liked “being in the company of rich Gringos.”

It seems that these women stay with the online gambling operators that they hook up with; they marry, have several children, and cook their “men” dinner. It seems that it is the perfect relationship for someone who is looking for companionship but may not be able to find it by traditional means.

But before all of you online gamblers hop on a plane to meet some gorgeous hooker in Costa Rica, remember that the girls that work the streets are usually excluded from establishments like the Del Rey as they don’t have their health card – which by law they must have to show that they are disease free. Some cannot get it for obvious reasons, and some can’t get it as they are actually men. There is a large population of transvestite hookers as well, so be careful who you take home with you.
