| GamblingPhD menu | Online Gambling Problems for Homeowners March 12, 2009 It seems that the Independent Mortgage Advisors Federation, IMAF, takes a very dim view of online gambling. As a matter of fact, if you are discovered to be an online gambling fan, you may find yourself without a mortgage. The IMAF says that they find online gambling a very risky proposition, and therefore if you are a participant in it, you will find yourself being turned down for a mortgage. They said that they would frown upon giving anyone involved in online gambling any kind of loan because they see it as a negative hobby and borrowers would be considered high risk that are involved in it. They said that although it would not automatically disqualify you for a loan, online gambling is not a plus on an application that might have other problems. They say that if you have other risk factors, it would definitely play into them. Many within the financial services industry say that they are really just looking for reasons not to give someone a loan but if they see online gambling and you are already someone that they are not sure about, you can guarantee that you wont get the loan. They say that online gambling should not be encouraged if you are looking to get any kind of financial transaction taken care of, and that if you are not an ideal candidate it gives them something to use against you. They are already worried about more people defaulting on their loans, and they have to be careful about who they give mortgages to. Back to March 09 Archive. |
