| GamblingPhD menu | Residents Want it Legalized March 11, 2009 There is a group of residents in the great state of New Jersey that want to see online gambling legalized within the state. They say that the state already offers casino gambling, what is the difference between that and online gambling? Not much they argue and they want to be taken seriously. Well, they are now. Former New Jersey Assistant Attorney General Frank Catania is agreeing with them and arguing that Atlantic City needs to offer online gambling if they are going to continue to survive this economic climate. It used to be that if you wanted to gamble you would go to Atlantic City or Las Vegas, depending on where you lived. However, with all of their surrounding states now offering slot machines and gambling, New Jersey is losing a lot of money that they used to use. Catania argues that online gambling is the perfect solution to their residents who might now find themselves closer to a neighboring states casino and not willing to travel to Atlantic City. If they offered online gambling those same residents would be able to still give their money to their home state and would not have to pay in gas or tolls the money to come to it or to go to any other casino for that matter. He says that instead of discouraging people from coming to Atlantic City they would be encouraging them to support their state. Being an international consultant for online gambling, Catania is somewhat of an expert in the online gambling industry, and really does know what he is talking about. Back to March 09 Archive. |
