China Moves Quickly
Against Online Gambling

It is no secret how China
feels about online gambling in their country. They have wanted it to be
illegal for some time now and have been crafting legislation to keep
online gambling from being a part of their offerings to their residents.
They have also made it very clear that they are not going to put up with
anyone who offers online gambling in their country and that arrests will
be made when the perpetrators are caught.
They announced in the beginning of February that they would be cracking
down on all illegal online gambling companies, and have spent the last
few weeks making good on that promise. They have made over 900 arrests
so far, so anyone who might think that they are not serious about this
would be dead wrong. Many thought that they were just saying that they
wee going to crack down on the illegal online gambling operations, but
when the arrests started happening they realized that they need not go
against their government on this one or they would pay the price.
None of the people arrested have been online gambling players. Instead,
the country is going after those people who are responsible for bringing
residents the ability to play at online gambling. The managers and
operators are the ones that they are setting their sights on, and they
have been very successful in closing down many of them. They said that
they are pleased with how it has been going but they are not done yet.
They said that they expect it to take them about six months and
thousands of arrests to clean up the online gambling industry.
They cannot go after those online gambling companies that are not
located within the country, but they have managed to shut down more than
200 of these foreign online gambling operators.
