Boys Will
Be…Gamblers?

There are those that are
understandably concerned about online gambling and our youth. By making
it accessible to adults, you are making it accessible to that portion of
our population that is willing to do almost anything as long as you tell
them not to – that would be our young male population.
One of the fastest growing groups of online gambling is the younger male
population. Teen online gambling has become very popular for many of our
teenage boys, and girls as well, just not as in as large doses. It is
tough for them to quit once they start as well as they know that there
is a great opportunity to win a lot of money, and they find that it is
incredibly exciting walking that line between winning and losing.
However, many of them are finding that the pitfalls that lead to online
gambling addiction are ever present as well. There are a high number of
teenage boys who have found themselves on the losing end of the stick
when it comes to online gambling. It seems like a lot of fun, and really
all it takes is a couple of wins to make them feel like they are
invincible. Then they lose a couple, but they still feel that they can
get that win back – so they keep gambling, and losing, and gambling
more, the cycle becomes a problem.
Experts say that the number of online gambling boys that are likely to
experience a problem as compared to an adult is two to four times
higher. Many times the parents don’t even realize that their children
are playing, and those that do many times do not realize the seriousness
of the situation. There is a reason that you are not supposed to gamble
until you are 18 – and that is because you do not have the maturity to
handle the situation. Many adults don’t either – but it is much more
difficult for a child.
