Who Will Be Next?

There are many who are
watching the online gambling struggle within the United States with a
real interest in mind. They are hoping that by more and more states
adding in online gambling that they might be able to get their foot in
the door. These offshore online gambling sites are curious as to how it
is going to work for the United States when their individual states are
allowing online gambling yet they keep saying it is illegal.
Several states have stepped forward as well to say that they are
interested in being a part of the industry. Iowa is just the latest one,
but California, New Jersey, Florida, etc. are all working on legislation
that would make online gambling legal in their states. They all have a
different take on it, so it will be interesting to see how each of them
will work out. The one thing you can be sure of is that they will all be
containing it to the borders of their states if they want it to stay
legal.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, says that
online gambling payment processing is illegal, but allows for it within
the states. It left it up to the states to determine whether or not they
would want online gambling, but that it and the payment processing could
not cross state lines. This is not a problem for most of the states as
they are aware that there are millions of dollars to be made off of the
industry and they want to get a portion of that to help with their
budgets.
New Jersey says that their online gambling will be tied to their
casinos. Only those casinos that have a land based presence will be able
to offer online gambling. Iowa is offering something similar in that
their online gambling patrons will have to deposit money in their
accounts by going to a land based casino. Each state is offering a new
take on it, now we just have to wait and see who will be next to offer
it.
