Numbers Drop, Online Go Up

The online gambling site
William Hill Online says that their numbers are much better than they
were for their land based gambling venues. The online gambling company,
a division of William Hill plc, says that overall, their numbers are
down 9% from their full year 2009 pre-tax profit to GBP 197.5 million.
Their CEO Ralph Topping said that with a year like the economy has had,
trading has been down which makes it difficult for everyone.
They said that although their numbers were down for their land based
gambling though, they were pleased with the results of their online
gambling site. They said that their site was unrecognizable from where
it was a year earlier and they felt that the transformation that they
had undergone was amazing and that they felt that their players had
really responded to it. They said that you can look at their numbers and
see how pleased players were, for if they weren’t they wouldn’t keep
coming back.
The online gambling company said that they had made “great strides” and
that they were so glad that they had purchased the assets from Playtech.
They said that they had more than 665,000 new online gambling accounts,
which is a 28% increase over the previous year. This large number of new
accounts is astounding when you consider that each of these new accounts
will end up being worth on average thousands of dollars to the online
gambling company.
Last year’s figures were GBP 125.1 million, while this year’s was GB
203.5 million. This is a substantial increase of more than $78 million
for the past year, or 63% over their previous year. So even though their
land numbers may have done poorer than they would have liked, they can
be happy about the numbers that have gone up.
