New
Code
of
Conduct
May
9,
2008
The
International
Responsible
Gambling
Code
of
Conduct
has
been
gathering
support
since
its
initial
outing
at
the
European
Interactive
Gaming
Expo
last
October.
A
lot
of
support
has
come
from
places
like
the
Interactive
Gaming
Council
(IGC),
the
European
Gaming
and
Betting
Association
(EGBA)
and
eCOGRA
since
its
release.
These
groups
are
working
together
to
come
up
with
a
plan
for
revising
and
writing
this
code,
and
they
will
expect
online
gambling
firms
to
comply.
They
are
simply
saying
that
these
are
minimum
requests
for
online
gambling
assurances
and
a
way
of
handling
themselves
when
participating
in
the
online
casino
industry.
They
say
that
the
most
important
parts
of
this
is
to
protect
their
players
and
to
promote
responsible
gambling.
Everyone
will
be
responsible
for
adhering
to
the
code.
They
say
that
protecting
their
players
from
themselves
as
well
as
those
out
there
that
would
do
them
harm
is
their
main
concern.
They
have
enlisted
the
help
of
the
gambling
group,
GamCare
to
help
those
that
cannot
help
themselves,
and
to
stave
off
those
who
aren’t
quite
there
yet.
They
know
that
they
will
be
instrumental
in
helping
them
write
the
code
for
all
of
the
online
casinos
to
follow.
They
are
going
to
focus
on
key
points
like
protecting
children
and
young
adults
from
underage
online
gambling,
player
protection,
customer
communications,
help
for
those
who
might
be
starting
to
have
problems,
the
ability
to
self-exclude,
and
advertising
focusing
on
those
that
are
legal
to
gamble
–
among
other
topics.
They
all
say
that
they
have
always
felt
that
they
adhered
to
this
code,
but
they
want
others
to
do
it
as
well.
