May

The
UK
Gambling
Commission
has
released
the
results
from
an
independent
survey
that
shows
that
the
majority
of
people
participating
in
online
gambling
are
males.
They
also
found
that
the
majority
of
those
gambling
are
between
the
ages
of
18
and
34.
The
sample
consisted
of
8,000
adults
participating
in
online
gambling
between
June
of
2007
and
March
of
this
year.
They
also
found
that
8.8%
of
those
surveyed
said
that
they
had
participated
in
online
gambling
in
some
form
within
the
last
month.
When
they
asked,
5.1%
of
those
gambling
said
that
they
were
participating
in
playing
the
National
Lottery,
with
6.3%
saying
that
they
had
participated
in
last
online
gambling
in
the
last
month.
Most
people
participate
in
online
gambling
via
their
computer
with
laptop
and
handheld
device
coming
in
second
and
third
respectively.
More
than
2%
used
some
sort
of
mobile
phone
to
participate
in
online
gambling,
and
less
than
2%
used
their
interactive/digital
television.
The
Gambling
Commission
said
that
they
are
going
to
work
on a
new
study
to
determine
how
much
of
that
online
gambling
equates
to
online
gambling
addiction.
They
want
to
know
what
areas
they
are
weakest
in,
so
they
know
where
to
spend
their
addiction
prevention
budget.
