Not Reading Terms and Conditions Could Hurt You

May 12, 2009

It is quite a mess in the online gambling world when it comes to payouts. The idea is that you play an online gambling game and if you win you expect to be paid out in full. However, you need to read the terms and conditions of the online casino because they really do give them the right to keep your money under the guise that you signed the deal.

Sylvia P. was lucky enough to win $4,188,719.98 playing the Beach Life progressive slot machine at Joyland. The online casino was Playtech powered at the time of the win, but is now a William Hill casino. The online gambling site publicized the win telling everyone how people win big at their online casino, but then didnt actually pay her what she deserved.

When it came time to pay, they said that she had signed an agreement under the terms and conditions that says that they only had to pay her a max of $9,000 a month. Playtech paid the online casino the full amount, but the online gambling site would not pay it out to her. They said that she had to wait, but the problem with this is that it would take them 39 years to pay her the money, and that is not including any interest accrued.

Sylvia spoke to the online gambling site about the terms and was told that she could have more if she gambled it first. So if she wanted $50,000 she had to gamble $50,000 at their online gambling site. Then they told her that she could have half but that was it, so she agreed to take half, but when she tried to look in her account to see how much was there the online casino blocked her access and locked her out of it. They deleted her account, so there is no record of wins or losses at all for her now.

Playtech stated that they were not getting involved, and neither was William Hill. It seems that a big name like Playtech would want to keep their reputation clean, but perhaps they figure they have enough other players. One thing is for sure, there are a lot of people who wont play there if they think they wont get their money.
