Wallace Says Come and Get Me

May 12, 2009

Chris Fox Wallace is a Minnesota resident and he is not taking their latest move against online gambling sitting down. Wallace says that attempting to cut out online gambling for its residents is a bad move and he has told the police to come and arrest him because he is going to continue to play poker online. He says that it is not illegal, and Minnesota cant tell him what to do in his own home.

The state had sent notice to the countrys largest internet service providers telling them that they were not to allow access by residents on these online gambling sites. There was a slew of about 200 online gambling sites that are now part of the ban.

They then asked the telephone companies to block access to the online gambling sites support telephone numbers, which really made many residents mad. They say that the state does not have permission, or the right, to tell them who they can talk to on the phone, never mind what they do on their computer. Wallace said that he would lose about $2,000 a week if he stopped playing online poker and that he has no intention of stopping.

Lawyers say that the law that the state is implementing to try and block online gambling does not really apply in this case. They say that the law was written before online gambling was even around, making it a real stretch to try and enforce it on something that is obviously not covered by it. Some experts say that it seems like more of an intimidation factor by the state against their residents that participate in online gambling simply because of the way that it was handled. They say that the online gambling sites chosen dont even make any sense.
