Absolute
Poker
Releases
Statement
November
20,
2007
With
the
online
gambling
under
such
close
scrutiny,
it
really
is a
bad
time
for
there
to
be a
lot
of
talk
about
insider
cheating
and
security
breaches.
Unfortunately,
that
is
just
what
Absolute
Poker
has
had
to
deal
with
over
the
past
few
weeks
as
allegations
of
both
have
clung
to
the
company
and
an
investigation
has
been
started.
Amidst
all
of
this,
Joe
Norton,
the
former
Grand
Chief
of
the
Mohawk
Territory
of
Kahnawake
and
the
Owner
of
Tokwiro
Enterprises
ENRG
–
which
owns
100%
of
Absolute
Poker,
felt
the
need
to
speak
out
to
defend
the
site
and
reassure
its
players
that
everything
was
under
control.
He
wanted
to
let
everyone
know
that
he
was
in
the
process
of
investigating
what
went
on
and
they
were
taking
steps
to
ensure
that
it
never
happened
again.
According
to
Norton,
a
“high-ranking
trusted
consultant”
that
the
company
had
employed
had
“extraordinary
access”
to
their
security
systems
and
he
used
this
access
to
gain
knowledge
that
he
should
not
have
had.
He
used
this
access
to
cheat
during
a
tournament
on
the
online
gambling
site.
Norton
went
on
to
say
that
he
wasn’t
pleased
with
the
way
Absolute
Poker
handled
the
initial
foray
into
the
investigation,
and
wished
that
he
could
change
that
but
he
cannot.
He
says
he
understands
that
their
customers
are
now
suspicious
of
the
company
because
of
the
initial
reaction,
but
that
as
this
is a
“complex
and
sensitive
issue”
he
wanted
to
assure
them
that
they
will
be
“forthcoming”
on
how
it
happened
and
what
they
are
doing
to
make
sure
that
it
never
happens
again.
This
is
big
news
considering
that
Norton
had
originally
said
that
there
was
no
security
breach
and
that
they
had
already
done
an
“extensive
investigation”
and
had
not
found
anything
wrong
with
the
site
or
the
way
the
tournament
had
played
out.
Now
they
seem
to
have
changed
their
tune,
and
are
now
being
investigated
by
the
Kahnawake
Gaming
Commission
and
a
third
party
Gaming
Associates.
