European
Online
Gambling
Market
Takes
Off
November
6,
2007
With
the
United
States
taking
the
firm
stance
that
online
gambling
will
not
be
allowed,
other
areas
of
the
world
are
more
than
ready
to
take
on
the
mantle
of
online
gambling
superpower.
The
European
market
seems
to
be
first
in
line,
and
online
gambling
has
truly
found
its
wings
there.
With
the
renewed
interest
in
all
things
related
to
online
gambling
in
Europe
comes
the
interests
of
the
eCommerce
and
Online
Gaming
Regulation
and
Assurance
organization,
otherwise
known
as
eCOGRA.
According
to a
recent
press
release
from
eCOGRA,
they
are
looking
heavily
into
the
European
online
gambling
market
due
to
this
renewed
interest.
They
have
found
that
online
gambling
operators
should
“commit
serious
licensing
jurisdictions”
so
that
they
can
be
regulated
and
players
will
know
that
they
are
playing
on
safe
sites.
This
became
the
topic
of
most
of
the
conversations
at
the
European
iGaming
Congress
and
Expo
that
was
recently
held
in
Barcelona.
With
so
many
countries
looking
to
be
involved
in
online
gambling
in
Europe
due
to
either
a
lack
of
support
or
interest
from
their
own
countries,
more
experts
feel
that
a
kind
of
“white
list”
like
that
of
the
United
Kingdom
may
be
necessary.
You
must
be
in
the
particular
licensing
jurisdiction
if
you
want
to
be
on
the
list,
and
you
must
comply
with
their
rules
and
regulations.
However,
more
than
that,
they
have
to
be
able
to
prove
that
you
can
protect
your
players.
That
is
probably
the
most
important
part
of
the
new
regulations.
The
company
has
been
around
for
four
years
and
they
are
bound
and
determined
to
ensure
a
safe
online
gambling
haven
for
those
that
choose
to
partake.
They
ensure
that
accredited
companies
comply
with
those
things
which
are
required
of
them.
