Nevada’s
Stance
on
Online
Gambling
November
28,
2007
As
far
as
online
gambling
is
concerned,
places
like
Nevada
stand
to
lose
much
more
than
states
like
Florida.
If
residents
can
participate
in
online
gambling,
why
would
they
come
to
the
casinos
if
they
can
do
it
at
home?
Well,
how
many
would
participate
in
online
gambling
and
how
would
it
affect
the
state
should
it
be
legal?
That
is a
question
the
state
wants
to
know.
There
is
also
the
issue
that
many
online
gambling
operators
are
going
to
the
Nevada
regulators
asking
them
if
they
can
participate
in
online
gambling
–
before
anything
has
even
been
decided
in
Washington.
The
state
decided
that
with
this
much
interest
in
them
making
online
gambling
legal
in
their
state
that
they
should
do a
study
to
see
where
it
might
take
them.
The
UNLV
International
Gambling
Institute
is
looking
into
how
many
residents
currently
participate
in
online
gambling
and
how
many
more
would
if
it
was
legal.
They
say
that
when
they
have
their
results
they
will
make
them
known
to
the
public,
as
many
are
curious
as
to
what
they
will
find
out.
Nevada
says
that
they
cannot
make
any
decisions
based
on
what
the
people
want
at
this
time,
and
that
they
are
waiting
for
the
results
of
the
study
to
see
what
they
will
find.
They
are
also
wondering
how
it
will
work
with
the
US
Department
of
Justice
ruling
that
they
want
all
online
gambling
made
illegal.
The
government
is
basing
their
online
gambling
ban
on
the
1960’s
wire
act
which
was
written
to
battle
organized
crime
and
sports
betting,
but
had
nothing
to
do
with
online
gambling
–
simply
because
it
had
not
yet
been
discovered.
However,
the
state
needs
to
see
what
the
results
are
before
making
a
decision.
This
is
not
the
first
time
they
have
looked
into
legalizing
online
gambling,
and
probably
won’t
be
the
last.
