Online
Gambling
and
Gaming
Combined
November
27,
2007
What
if
you
could
be
paid
to
kill?
Ok,
not
in
real
life
but
in
the
virtual
world?
If
you
said
that
you
would
be
interested,
hopefully
in
the
second
half
of
that
question,
then
there
may
be a
place
for
you
where
the
online
gambling
and
online
gaming
worlds
collide.
Videogamers
are
being
paid
to
virtually
kill
people.
There
are
a
series
of
over
18
servers
that
have
launched
that
will
pay
you
for
every
“kill”
you
make
–
with
some
deaths
worth
more
than
others.
The
idea
is
that
you
are
participating
in
video
gaming,
but
you
are
also
participating
in
online
gambling
because
it
is
the
online
equivalent
to
playing
poker.
As
it
is
considered
online
gambling,
all
of
the
sites
are
located
in
the
UK
where
they
don’t
have
to
worry
about
the
UIGEA
that
was
passed
in
the
US.
The
online
gambling/gaming
idea
is
not
without
its
problems,
as
the
developers
are
finding.
There
are
those
that
would
cheat
in
the
online
realm,
and
those
that
will
fall
prey
to
it.
Some
online
gambling/gamers
have
already
left
as
they
say
that
others
are
installing
third
party
programs
that
are
taking
money
from
other
gamblers.
The
amount
of
time
that
it
takes
for
the
companies
to
discover
these
people
would
be
enough
time
for
them
to
take
thousands
of
dollars
from
unsuspecting
players.
Some
companies,
such
as
Kwari
have
created
their
own
online
gambling/gaming
site
where
the
game
makes
it
much
more
difficult
for
that
to
happen.
They
don’t
want
professional
poker
players,
they
want
the
more
casual
player
to
join
them.
They
set
up
the
games
so
that
it
is
almost
impossible
for
elite
teams
to
have
any
sort
of
advantage
over
the
single
player,
and
makes
them
random.
However,
this
will
all
be a
moot
point
if
online
gambling
goes
legal
–
for
it
will
change
the
face
of
online
gambling
and
gaming
if
it
does.
