UNL
Appreciates
Online
Gambling
November
21,
2007
University
of
Nebraska
at
Lincoln
students
are
never
at a
loss
for
a
good
poker
game
– in
fact
they
embrace
it.
Some
play
online,
some
play
at
local
establishments,
but
no
matter
where
they
play
–
they
are
playing.
Over
the
years
the
number
of
campus
organizations
that
have
offered
and
embraced
both
online
poker
and
live
poker
games
has
increased.
Not
only
do
local
establishments
offer
the
games,
but
the
university
offers
poker
events
as
well.
Over
the
past
several
years,
the
school
realized
that
people
were
participating
in
online
gambling
and
small
poker
games
in
their
dorm
rooms,
so
why
not
make
it
easier
for
them
to
play?
The
different
organizations
enjoy
offering
these
opportunities
to
their
students
–
some
free,
some
not.
They
have
beaten
many
schools
to
the
punch,
as
many
colleges
are
now
just
coming
around
to
the
idea
that
their
students
may
be
participating
in
online
gambling
right
in
their
backyard.
UNL
meanwhile,
has
been
offering
free
poker
tournaments,
sponsored
by
sororities,
fraternities,
campus
clubs,
etc.
that
want
to
be
involved.
For
many
of
these
on
campus
games,
they
are
really
just
a
way
to
meet
people
as
they
don’t
really
pay
much.
However,
Lincoln
itself
is
more
than
accommodating
to
those
that
are
looking
to
turn
their
money
into
a
little
more
than
that.
There
are
free
roll
tournaments
around
at
many
local
establishments,
with
some
of
them
offering
more
than
$400
for
their
prizes.
You
do
have
to
be
21
for
most
of
these
though,
so
check
age
limits
before
going.
Many
think
of
it
as a
nice
alternative
to
online
gambling
as
it
brings
you
out
of
your
room
and
allows
you
to
interact
with
other
students.
The
school
prefers
those
that
choose
to
partake
to
do
so
with
other
students
instead
of
the
online
gambling
in
their
dorm
rooms,
but
to
each
his
own.
