Antigua Gets Whitelisted

Much to their delight and enjoyment, the online gambling companies licensed in Antigua and Barbuda will be able to advertise in the UK because they have been officially named to their white list. Being able to advertise in the UK is a big deal, as this will undoubtedly allow the country to recoup many of their losses that they suffered from the closing off of their country from the US with the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

They were awarded the license by the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and it goes into effect November 21st of this year. This will allow them to expand their online gambling industry and bring in much needed income for their country.

This approval makes the country only the second country that is non-European Union to get the approval. The other is Tasmania. This is a huge deal for the tiny island, and will solidify their relationship with those that are licensed with them as well.

The Advertising Standards Authority is the regulation authority of the advertising industry in the UK. They make the decisions regarding what is appropriate and what is not. They cannot interpret or enforce legislation, but their code of advertising follows legislation in the British Government very closely.

They are not funded by the British Government; rather the advertising industry handles that. Their goal is to ensure that everything that is advertised is of the highest quality and safety. Everything must follow their rules and regulations, or it cannot be advertised.
