Online
Gambling
Cannot
Get
Complacent
November
9,
2008
It
would
seem
that
the
online
gambling
community
is
still
fighting,
just
not
as
much.
They
seem
to
have
lost
their
edge,
and
much
of
it
has
to
do
with
the
fact
of
the
election.
With
Republican
Senator
Jon
Kyl
seemingly
sitting
back
lately
–
some
say
at
the
request
of
John
McCain,
it
is
possible
that
online
gambling
supporters
may
feel
like
they
are
winning,
but
they
would
be
wrong.
Does
it
look
better
for
the
online
gambling
community
now
that
the
Democrats
control
the
house,
the
senate
and
the
presidency?
Absolutely.
But
this
does
not
mean
that
they
can
sit
back
on
their
haunches
as
they
haven’t
won
anything
yet.
Legalizing
online
gambling
is
undoubtedly
going
to
be
something
President-Elect
Barack
Obama
is
going
to
be
working
on
in
the
future,
but
it
is
assuredly
not
one
of
the
first
things
he
is
going
to
worry
about.
However,
with
Republican
Senator
Mitch
McConnell
winning
in
Kentucky
Tuesday
night,
online
gambling
might
have
an
easier
time
than
they
think.
McConnell
is
the
man
who
was
responsible
for
keeping
horse
betting
untouched
by
the
UIGEA,
so
he
may
be
the
person
to
work
for
online
gambling
as a
whole.
Those
that
know
him
say
that
he
is
fair,
and
can
easily
see
both
sides
of
the
equation,
something
the
other
politicians
don’t
know
much
about.
Some
Republicans
are
not
happy
about
his
win
as
they
say
that
he
needs
to
be
further
right
than
he
is.
His
camp
says
that
he
is
right
in
the
middle
of
the
issues,
which
is
exactly
where
everyone
should
be.
