Online Gambling Could be Good for US
November 8, 2009
Online gambling legalization would be good for the United States. It has really been proven that by legalizing online gambling that billions of dollars in taxable revenue would be flowing through our coffers. This means that billions of dollars would now be coming into the United States making up for budget shortfalls and for programs that have been cut or are seriously lacking funding. However, there is one industry that would not necessarily benefit from the legalization of online gambling, and that is the land based casinos.
According to recent studies more than $40 billion could be raised over 10 years for the US government, which is a substantial amount of money no matter how you look at. Already representatives are looking at this and wondering why they have been dead set against not legalizing online gambling within the US. They say that everyone will benefit from the additional monies that would come into our country from online gambling.
However, what about the land based industries of gambling? Casinos, horse tracks, greyhound tracks, etc. would all suffer from the additional monies that would be spent in the online gambling arena instead of at their locations. Many of these industries are already hurting from the money that has been flowing into the online gambling market due to the problems with the economy and the amount of money that would need to be spent on travel.
Many of the land based casinos have started looking into opening their own online gambling sites, but this is almost impossible for the horse and greyhound tracks to do. Instead, they are using their money to fight against the legalization and regulation of the online gambling industry, understandably so.
