Party Gaming Moving Back to United States?
November 28, 2009
The online gambling company Party Gaming seems to be trying to make their move back into the United States. The online gambling company followed suit with many others in the industry and pulled out of the US when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act or UIGEA was passed. Many were fearful of retribution by the US if they continued to offer their online gambling services within the country, so they decided to avoid it all together.
They then saw big names like BetOnSports be attacked by the US Department of Justice and breathed a sigh of relief that they were not going to be on the list of companies that might have to answer to them for offering online gambling services. They knew that the smart thing to do would be to wait and bide their time until something happened that made them think that they might end up coming back into the industry again.
Party Gaming has decided to make their first foray back into the online gambling world with the purchase of the World Poker Tour and all the rights and privileges that come with it. They are positioning themselves to get back into the online gambling industry, and have chosen a perfect way to do so. This move has now joined one of the largest offline poker offerings with arguably the largest online poker offering – and created one entity with it.
The move into online gambling is a good one for the company as they are aware that they had to walk away from millions of customers when they left, and this could be their bridge back to them.
