Is Poland Banning Online Gambling?

November
28, 2009

There is talk that Poland could be the next country to ban online gambling. The rumor mill is flying with the accusations, and according to more than one source it is most likely not a rumor. The country has been thinking about an online gambling ban for some times now, and they are finally moving forward with it.

The country has new legislation that would ban all forms of online gambling in their country. The bill has been drawn up by their Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and last week he said that they are working to ban all online gambling casinos that are not within their borders. They are also banning all online gambling advertising and for games of chance.

The legislation is going to be ready within the next few weeks, and they are hoping that it will eliminate all slot machines and all other gambling kinds of games that do not fall within their casinos. He said that they feel that gambling outside of the casinos has become a real problem, and they are hoping that by passing this online gambling legislation that they will eliminate at least 20-25% of that gambling from the country.

They are also increasing the taxation on online gambling so that they will start limiting the amount of gambling that is occurring. They think that if people have to start paying even more for their hobby that they will be less likely to develop a problem with it later on.
