Iowa
launches first electronic
scratch game
October 4
Starting today in Iowa,
lottery players in Waterloo,
Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Cedar
Falls have the first chance at
playing the first electronic
scratch game named 'Quarter
Play.'
The Iowa
Lottery will begin allocating
cards that will be operated by
battery and equipped with 80
plays. It is reported that each
card will cost $20. That amount
evens-out to 25 cents per play.
The cards,
which look about the size of a
credit card, are guaranteed to
have a payout of at least $5.
Amid the 20,000 cards to be
sold in the initial trial period, 35 have been
delegated to
pay out the $300 top prize.
Over 125
stores in eastern Iowa have
already been supplied with the
electronic lottery tickets.
The game
was made public Friday in Cedar
Rapids. Iowa Lottery officials
say it's the premiere electronic
scratch game in the United
States.
The new
game will be marketed for up to
eight months or until all 20,000
cards are sold.
