Neb. gambling
opponents get sued
October 13
Last Friday, In
Nebraska, the
hostilities between
gambling supporters and
opponents intensified
when the filing of four
complaints with the
state took place.
People in favor of
Amendment 3, the
Legislature's plan to
authorize two casinos in
Nebraska, filed formal
complaints charging
illegal behavior by the
anti-gambling group
known as Gambling with
the Good Life.
Phil Young, Yes on
Amendment 3's campaign
coordinator, announced
that the complaints
filed with the Nebraska
Accountability and
Disclosure Commission
charge that Gambling
with the Good Life did
not truthfully report
contributions made to
their committee on
filings they turned in
previously last week.
One of the complaints
charges that the group
got or was told it would
get somewhere between
$25,000 and $30,000 from
Omaha's Trinity
Interdenominational
Church during the period
for report, and that the
period ended without
their reporting it.
Gambling with the Good
Life said the complaint
showed that the group in
favor of gambling was
desperate.
Desperate or not, the
group is officially
suing.
