If you like to gamble
you need to vote
October 8
Here
is just one example of why
it is so important that
everyone who can vote, does
vote. In this case, if you
like to gamble and you live
in Pennsylvania, you need to
explore your options.
In Pennsylvania,
State Senate Republicans,
most are against the state's
new gambling law, stirred
Wednesday to approve a
series of amendments to the
new law that would, amid
other subjects,
significantly broaden the
attorney general's
controlling authority when
it comes to gambling.
Also, t he
amendment would eradicate a
condition that makes slot
casinos exempt from local
zoning laws and a
requirement that slot
machines be bought through
slot makers located in
Pennsylvania.
On
Wednesday evening the bill
still did not make it to the
floor of the Senate, but the
provisions were already
attached to the amending
legislation on three party
line votes of 11-6 at a
previous meeting.
Democrats are announcing
that the Republicans'
amendment amounts to
superficial measures in
order to disturb the growth
of gambling in the state of
Pennsylvania. This is all
coming to surface now that
Gov. Ed Rendell has signed a
bill just over three months
ago, allowing up to 61,000
slot machines at 14
different locations.
Clearly the State Senate
Republicans are against
gambling in that state and
are willing to everything
they can to provide
road-blocks.
