Online
Gambling
Code
Launched
October
11,
2007
The
European
Interactive
Gaming
Congress
and
Expo
has
launched
a
new
code
of
conduct
as
it
relates
to
online
gambling
procedures.
The
code
is
hoping
to
protect
players
from
themselves
and
those
that
would
take
advantage
of
their
desire
to
participate
in
online
gambling
by
setting
standards
for
the
industry
that
all
are
expected
to
follow.
GamCare,
e-Commerce
Online
Gambling
Regulation
and
Assurance,
and
the
Remote
Gaming
Association
got
together
to
create
the
codes
of
protection
for
the
online
gambling
industry.
Microgaming
had
gotten
many
industry
executives
together
earlier
in
the
year
and
they
had
created
the
basis
for
the
code
at
that
time.
The
hope
is
that
although
the
majority
of
online
gambling
companies
and
online
casinos
are
already
taking
steps
to
protect
their
players,
this
will
give
a
more
unified
standard
for
all
to
follow.
The
new
code
will
address
a
variety
of
problems,
including
player
protection,
underage
online
gambling,
and
online
gambling
addiction.
It
also
handles
how
companies
are
promoting
and
marketing
themselves.
eCOGRA
sites
already
follow
a
set
of
rules
and
regulations,
and
this
new
code
will
be
implemented
among
them
as
well
and
they
will
be
expected
to
abide
by
it.
The
code
for
online
gambling
has
thirty
different
talking
points
of
things
that
they
must
be
prepared
for
and
able
to
handle.
The
gambling
addiction
agencies
such
as
GamCare
applauded
the
efforts
of
the
online
gambling
industry
to
try
and
halt
the
spread
of
the
disease,
and
to
try
and
protect
our
youth
from
the
ever
present
temptation
of
online
gambling.
They
believe
that
the
online
gambling
community
will
be
able
to
make
better
and
more
informed
decisions
with
this
code,
and
know
that
they
are
secure
in
their
mobile
online
gambling
as
well
as
the
various
companies
having
their
best
interests
at
heart.
