Online
Gambling
Fight
October
25,
2007
With
so
many
countries,
including
residents
of
our
own,
fighting
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act
(UIGEA),
it
seems
that
it
would
be
only
a
matter
of
time
before
residents
of
the
US
took
their
fight
to
the
internet.
With
You
Tube
being
so
incredibly
popular
with
the
average
American,
it
only
seemed
to
make
sense
that
a
video
posted
on
their
site
would
be
the
way
to
get
their
message
across.
The
Association
of
Players,
Casinos
and
Webmasters
(APCW)
has
launched
a
new
video
called
“Why
We
Fight…”
outlining
exactly
why
the
group
continues
to
fight
for
online
gambling.
They
basically
start
it
by
saying
that
they
are
aware
of
all
of
the
problems
out
there
today
and
that
they
know
that
online
gambling
seems
minute
compared
to
them;
however,
there
are
reasons
for
fighting
the
UIGEA
that
go
way
beyond
the
online
gambling
part
itself.
They
say
that
the
law
was
passed
in
the
middle
of
the
night,
tacked
on
to
another
bill
and
passed
in
secret;
that
it
does
not
represent
the
views
of
the
voters
as
the
majority
of
Americans
today
say
that
they
don’t
have
an
issue
with
online
gambling;
and
that
the
law
highlights
the
“deterioration
of
personal
freedoms.”
They
say
that
they
are
not
alone
in
their
push
to
get
online
gambling
legalized
again,
as
you
can
see
from
a
recent
Business
Week
debate
on
the
UIGEA.
They
are
aware
that
by
passing
a
law
such
as
the
UIGEA
without
the
voters
consents,
that
they
are
not
listening
to
the
very
people
who
voted
them
into
office.
In
addition,
there
is
the
fact
that
once
the
law
was
passed,
they
received
countless
letters
and
emails
protesting
the
law
but
that
did
not
seem
to
affect
lawmakers.
They
say
that
if
they
don’t
fight
for
online
gambling
and
their
personal
freedoms
now,
what
will
be
next?
What
will
the
government
decide
is
too
dangerous
for
US
citizens
and
just
take
away
without
our
consent?
They
don’t
want
to
find
out,
so
they
fight,
and
will
continue
fighting
until
the
law
is
overturned.
