CA Could Be Bringing Online Gambling Back

October 9, 2008

Hold on to your hats, for California is making some bold moves in the area of online gambling. The state is currently looking at a bill that would most definitely give the online gambling industry its big break and a way to come back bigger than ever.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking at a bill that would effectively make online gambling legal in the state. Senate Bill 1369 could very well pave the way for the resurgence of online gambling in the US as other states adopt similar measures.

The bill would make online gambling legal within the state of California, although it would not make it legal outside of it. Those that are interested in participating in online gambling would have to restrict themselves to those online casinos that are operating within the state itself.

If the bill passes, other states would undoubtedly start looking at doing their own version of intrastate online gambling. Nevada has already started looking into it, and it is assumed that should California be able to pass the bill then Nevada will be next in line.

One would assume that Pennsylvania and New Jersey are not far behind the ball on this one. And any state that is currently hosting slot machines or casinos might consider it as well. It will be interesting to see how the online gambling bill plays out with the Federal Government and if they have a right to shut it down or not.

The U.S. Department of Justice and committee members of the EU are set to convene together to hold talks of why bingo and online casino websites can still face prosecution even after their withdrawal from the USA borders, as previous answers were not satisfactory on both sides.
