Online Gambling Continues

With the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 many thought that the days of online gambling were limited. However, nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact, online gambling is just as popular if not more popular since the passing of the UIGEA as it was before. All the act did was to make it more present in the minds of Americans.

Some experts liken it to the bad publicity a movie gets. As soon as someone starts telling people to boycott the movie, people are going to go see it that would not have seen it before. The same holds true for online gambling.

All of those people who didn�t want to play online gambling before started doing it because they were told they couldn�t. Now it was about standing up for their rights as Americans. It was also about seeing if you could get around the government and their idea that they could block payments.

Neither reason is a good reason for participating in online gambling, but it has helped their cause. It has shown the US government that no matter what they do, they can�t tell people what to do with their own money on their own time. All it does is make them mad.
