| GamblingPhD menu | Mansion Staying Put October 13, 2008 There has been talk of a pullout of the Gibraltar based online casino Mansion, but it seems that it was nothing more than a rumor. The Gibraltar publication Panorama investigated the rumor and said that the online gambling group has no intention of pulling out of the country. Many online gambling groups have their home in the country, as they are known to be friendly towards the online casino industry. However, the Indonesian owned Mansion was supposedly considering pulling out of the country and moving it all to Singapore and Israel. Residents were concerned as this would mean 150 people out of work, as well as a loss of revenue for the state. With the country already looking at a high rate of unemployment, they really did not want to see another company pull out or go under. Thankfully they dont have to. The online gambling company said that they were very happy where they were and had every intention on staying where they were. They did say that they were going to be letting go some of their IT department, but that they would be increasing their sales and marketing departments. Some wondered at the rumor, especially the part about the online gambling group moving to Israel. The country has a personal tax rate of 8% and is very anti online gambling so the move would not have made a lot of sense. |
