Online
Gamblers
Won’t
Stop
October
29,
2008
You
can
make
something
illegal
all
you
want,
but
if
people
want
to
keep
doing
it
they
are
going
to.
You
might
be
able
to
deter
some
from
it,
but
many
are
going
to
still
take
part
in
whatever
it
is
you
have
told
them
not
to
do.
Perfect
example
of
this
is
online
gambling.
When
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act
was
passed
many
thought,
mistakenly,
that
this
would
put
an
end
to
all
of
the
online
gambling
and
poker
playing
because
it
was
now
illegal.
Well,
really
it
isn’t
illegal
–
but
that
is
another
convoluted
story.
But
the
fact
of
the
matter
is
that
people
are
still
playing
online
gambling
and
the
industry
is a
billion
dollar
one
–
and
the
only
ones
not
benefiting
are
the
government
as
they
refuse
to
regulate
it.
Other
countries
have
seen
the
light
of
day
and
chosen
to
make
online
gambling
legal
and
are
making
money
hand
over
fist.
The
US
Government
however,
made
online
gambling
illegal,
and
the
industry
got
stronger.
It
was
almost
as
if
all
of
those
people
who
didn’t
play
before
got
mad
because
now
they
were
told
they
couldn’t
and
started
playing.
With
the
internet
you
can
play
anything
–
slot
machines,
baccarat,
poker,
etc.
right
in
your
living
room,
so
why
would
anyone
give
that
up?
Industry
experts
say
that
business
is
booming
and
that
there
will
be
more
online
poker
games
per
day
by
the
end
of
the
year
than
all
of
the
online
casinos
put
together
– it
is
that
popular
of a
game.
With
this
in
mind,
the
US
might
want
to
think
twice
about
throwing
all
of
that
online
gambling
money
away.
