Free Tuition Gambling?

Online gambling is never more popular than when there is something up for grabs that everyone wants. In this case it is free tuition that they are playing for and students are all over it!

Cape Breton University made an offer for an online poker tournament that would give their students a chance to win free tuition. They say that the students are overjoyed at the chance to win it, as it is worth $5,660.

Matt Stewart, the union�s president, said that he gave permission for an online gambling firm to post advertising on their campus. The poker tournament was also announced via Facebook. Stewart says that as it is a free competition, they really don�t have anything to lose by playing, but there is a lot at stake if they win.

The students have been participating in the online gambling tournaments each week to win a variety of prizes; the tuition fee is simply one of them. With students not paying to play, Stewart says that there is very little risk for the development of online gambling addicts. He says that with them having so much to gain from the tournament, how could he not support such a cause?

Of course it has its detractors who say that Stewart is being irresponsible and creating a group of online gambling addicts. They say that he is enticing students to gamble. However, others say that since they are participating in online gambling anyway, why not let them play for free and possibly get free tuition?
