Yesterday,
MGM
Mirage
announced
its
plans
for
rebuilding
its
Beau
Rivage
Resort
in
Biloxi,
Mississippi.
The
casino
company
has
pledge
to
reconstruct
the
casino
resort
and
even
use
its
own
employees
to
do
so,
along
with
contractors.
After
a
few
s
enior
executives
from
the
gambling
company
toured
the
Beau
Rivage
Tuesday,
they
met
with
employees,
damage
assessment
crews
and
started
making
firm
plans
to
rebuild.
As
with
most
other
casinos
struck-down
in
the
area,
they
plan
to
rebuild
and
rebuild
quickly.
From
the
beginning
until
now,
MGM
Mirage
has
invested
about
$800
million
in
Beau
Rivage.
The
gambling
resort
is
considered
by
many
to
be
the
pinnacle
of
the
Gulf
Coast
gaming
industry.
With
the
announced
rebuilding
program,
MGM
Mirage
will
have
invested
more
than
$1
billion
in
the
Gulf
Coast
region
once
the
hotel
re-opens.
Already,
w
orkers
have
removed
most
of
the
debris
and
sediment
left
from
the
storm
surge
damage
and
structure
assessments
are
under
going
today.
So
far,
over
70
of
the
casino's
employees
have
been
hired
into
recovery
jobs
with
contractors
performing
the
initial
restoration
process.
Additionally,
the
casino
giant
announced
a $1
million
starting
donation
to
the
company's
employee-funded
Voice
Foundation.
Like
IGT
is
doing,
MGM
is
also
will
matching
(without
limit),
each
dollar
any
employee
donates
makes
until
the
end
of
2005.
The
company-wide
donations
will
be
headed
towards
the
aid
of
company
employees
that
require
assistance.
So,
if a
blackjack
dealer
from
the
MGM
Mirage
donates
$100
the
the
employee
fund
MGM
will
in
turn
give
another
$100
(totaling
$200)
to
employees
in
the
Gulf
area
that
need
it.
No
bad.
