Makes
Deadline
September
24,
2007
Many
thought
that
they
would
not
make
the
deadline
that
had
been
set
for
them,
but
even
with
all
of
their
heel
dragging,
the
United
States
Department
of
Justice
made
their
deadline
with
very
little
time
to
spare.
Some
thought
that
they
would
not
respond
at
all,
but
as
we
can
see
that
is
not
the
case.
The
government
had
to
meet
a
September
21st
deadline
that
was
set
by
The
Honorable
Judge
Mary
L.
Cooper,
of
the
3rd
District/Trenton
Division
Courts.
They
were
to
submit
a
brief
on
behalf
of
two
other
defendants
in
the
case,
the
Federal
Trade
Commission
and
the
Federal
Reserve.
They
were
to
address
the
case
that
was
brought
before
the
judge
by
iMEGA’s
legal
team
that
is
asking
for
a
temporary
restraining
order
against
the
government’s
passing
of
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act.
They
said
that
the
law
was
unconstitutional
and
are
asking
for
it
to
be
overturned.
The
brief
that
the
government
submitted
basically
asked
for
their
suit
to
be
dismissed.
They
said
that
iMEGA
does
not
have
“sufficient
standing”
to
bring
a
complaint
against
them,
and
that
since
the
law
is
“unripe”
for
challenge
there
is
no
case
against
them
at
this
time.
They
are
of
course
referring
to
the
fact
that
the
government
has
not
yet
passed
the
necessary
regulations
for
enforcing
the
law
and
it
is
well
past
their
270
days
deadline
that
they
were
supposed
to
have
that
done
by.
The
government’s
case
is
based
on
the
fact
that
they
are
trying
to
get
the
courts
to
recognize
the
UIGEA
and
be
able
to
enforce
it,
without
them
having
to
meet
the
requirements
that
make
it a
law
and
therefore
not
be
able
to
be
challenged
on
it.
