Fighting
Mad
September
25,
2007
The
United
States
Government
has
underestimated
their
opponent
in
the
lawsuit
over
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act
(UIGEA)
in
that
they
thought
that
they
could
pull
a
fast
one
and
get
away
with
it.
However,
the
Interactive
Media
Entertainment
&
Gaming
Association
(iMEGA)
is
suing
them
saying
that
the
UIGEA
is
unconstitutional
and
should
be
reversed.
Naysayers
thought
that
the
mostly
unknown
group
would
disappear
after
a
little
while,
for
not
only
were
they
fighting
the
US
government’s
ban
of
online
gambling,
but
their
motivation
was
suspect
and
they
were
not
seen
to
stay
the
course
in
the
fight.
However,
their
legal
team
has
put
all
doubts
to
rest,
and
they
have
come
back
at
the
government
with
a
fury
and
determination
that
was
completely
unexpected
by
all
in
the
online
gambling
world.
The
government
had
answered
iMEGA’s
challenge
with
a
dismissal
saying
that
the
online
gambling
law
was
unripe
and
therefore
could
not
be
challenged.
iMEGA
came
back
with
a
riposte
that
the
government
had
to
answer
by
September
21st.
They
did
so,
but
only
after
seemingly
taking
their
time
in
doing
so.
Meanwhile,
iMEGA
posted
their
document
on
their
website
and
readers
will
see
that
not
only
is
there
a
depth
of
purpose
in
it,
but
it
also
shows
that
the
online
gambling
group
will
not
be
going
anywhere
any
time
soon.
The
group
says
that
they
will
continue
to
work
to
evolve
their
case,
as
they
continue
to
battle
the
US,
and
they
are
confident
that
they
will
eventually
come
out
on
top.
They
say
that
not
only
should
the
UIGEA
be
reversed
but
that
it
“directly
causes
injury-in-fact
to
plaintiff's
members
and
the
public."
The
legal
precedents
that
they
quote
make
for
a
very
powerful
case,
and
many
think
they
stand
a
good
chance
of
winning
the
online
gambling
battle.
