Argentina Understands
September 10, 2009
Any government worth their salt is going to understand that when in times of economic turmoil they must do anything they can to bring in more money. You see this with the various governments across the world how some are embracing online gambling and some are not. Those that are bracing the idea of legalizing online gambling understand that this is a way to bring in much more money for their country thus helping out any economic hardship that may currently exist.
Argentina is one of those countries. They have long been against the idea of online gambling, but they understand that with the economy the way that it is they have to do something to bring in more money. Online gambling revenue will do that for them. Their government is working on introducing legislation that would legalize and regulate online gambling in their country. This comes as a shock to many, especially residents who were just told last year that any form of online gambling would be illegal. They were also told that if you were caught violating the ban on online gambling you would find yourself in jail.
However, the country now understands that in order to survive, they must bring in online gambling. Now how strict there going to be - one does not know. But one can assume whatever it is they're bringing in is more than the United States government is currently allowing.
The Argentine government is considering reversing their ban on online poker, bingo, sports betting, and all online gambling. If they do this, the amount of revenue that would now flow into their country would be in excess of several hundred million.
