Odds of Failing are Great

According to Tony Cabot, a Las Vegas lawyer or who is also known as an online gambling expert, online gambling is not going to be legalized anytime soon. Speaking at the International Masters of Gaming Law Conference in Amsterdam, Cabot stated that online gambling legalization bills are not going to pass through the United States Congress anytime soon.
He said that the timing of the online gambling bills is not good, and therefore getting them passed is truly a long shot. He said that Representative Barney Frank's bill, as well as the other online gambling legislation that was currently sitting in Congress, had a very poor chance of becoming law. He said that the chances of regulation of online gambling being realized were at the best 20 to 1.
He said that even though the bill has more than 50 cosponsors at the time, political considerations are actually decreasing the chances of the online gambling bill becoming law. He said that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has not voiced any kind of support for online gambling. He said that the Senator caters to the land-based casinos, and until they decide that they want to see online gambling regulated and legalized, the Senator will not come forward in support.
He said that each win the Republicans and the Democrats, so many of them are afraid to take a stance on something that could be perceived as unpopular so they choose not to take a stand at all. He said that they are so worried about being reelected that they probably won't get involved until something changes to make online gambling much more popular than it is now.
