Conference Maps Out Future

September
27, 2009

The European i-Gaming Congress in Copenhagen has thus far been a huge success. The panel discussions have proven to be both enlightening and well attended. As usual, the main topic of conversation is the legalization of online gambling in those countries that currently do not offer it. Some of the worlds most accomplished and successful CEOs were on hand to discuss the future of the online gambling industry.

One of the topics was how large the online gambling industry has the potential to become. CEO Gigi Levy pointed out that the online gambling industry currently consists of about 8% of the world. Many feel that the potential for so much more was definitely there, and they that you have said that online gambling could expand so significantly as to make it a trillion dollar industry.

All of those online casino companies who are at the Congress say that they want to be able to enter the world’s markets legally. They are not interested in being the subject of governmental investigations that can drag on forever. Most felt that legal and regulatory developments were their main concerns today.

Many of them were disappointed by the recent ECJ verdict in regard to online gambling. However some are optimistic that within the next two or three years will European online gambling community would drastically open from where it is now. Many of them could see the concerns that had been brought up in regards to online gambling, and understood why people were hesitant to allow it. However they felt that these people did not truly have an understanding of what online gambling encapsulated.
